The Golf Athlete (“TGA”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to thegolfathletex.com, our coach and athlete portals, and our in-studio and online training services.

Who we are

The Golf Athlete is a golf-fitness training brand with studios in Hanoi (Vietnam) and Jakarta (Indonesia), plus an online program serving students internationally. For any privacy question, contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Contact & booking details — name, email address, phone number, preferred location (Hanoi / Jakarta / Online), and any message you send through our booking or enquiry forms.
• Profile & golf background — date of birth, sex, height, weight, handedness, handicap, years playing, and training goals.
• Health & fitness information — where you train with us: injury and pain history, physical assessment results, movement/strength/mobility test data, and any coaching notes, photos, or video you or your coach record as part of your assessment and program.
• Account information — if you use the athlete portal, the email and sign-in details used to access it.

Information collected automatically

• Basic technical data such as device type, browser, and general usage of the site, collected through standard cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies” below).

Health & sensitive information

Some of the data we collect — injuries, assessment results, and related coaching notes — is health-related and sensitive. We collect it only with your knowledge, use it solely to assess you, build and deliver your training program, and track your progress, and we restrict access to the coaches and administrators who need it to serve you. We do not use your health information for advertising.

How we use your information

• To respond to enquiries and manage bookings and appointments.
• To assess you and design, deliver, and adjust your training program.
• To operate your athlete/coach portal account and keep your records.
• To send you service messages (e.g. booking confirmations, account and sign-in emails).
• To send marketing emails and updates where you have opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time.
• To improve our services and understand how our site is used.

Marketing & your consent

We add you to our marketing email list only when you opt in (single opt-in). Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by using that link or contacting us. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop essential service messages related to a booking or account.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed:

• Supabase — secure database and account storage for leads, customer records, and assessment data.
• Klaviyo — email marketing and communications (for those who opt in).
• Netlify — website hosting and delivery.
• Google Workspace — sending account and service emails.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property, or those of others.

International transfers

We operate across Vietnam, Indonesia, and online, and our service providers may store or process data in other countries. Wherever your information is processed, we take reasonable steps to keep it protected in line with this policy.

Cookies & similar technologies

Our site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to make it work (including offline/app functionality) and to understand basic usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information for as long as you are a client or contact, and afterwards only for as long as needed to meet legal, accounting, or legitimate business purposes. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see “Your rights”).

Your rights

You may ask us to:

• access the personal information we hold about you;
• correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• delete your information;
• stop or limit certain uses, including marketing.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live (for example, if you are in the EU/UK), you may have additional rights under applicable data-protection law.

Children

We train junior athletes. Where a client is a minor, we collect and process their information with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child’s information has been provided to us without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will address it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access controls that limit who can view sensitive records. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond promptly to any issue.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and material changes will be reflected on this page.
